North West Hants Winners to receive Hampshire High Sheriff Community Awards

One volunteer led charitable organisation and two individuals working for the same charity are being recognised with an award by the  High Sheriff of Hampshire at the  Great Hall, Winchester .  The charitable organisation is the Andover Foodbank which provides food boxes to the vulnerable in and around the Test Valley area; the two individual volunteers are Linda Fox, a literary and activities assistant at Enham, and Keith Jay, who works with the team at Radio Enham.
The awards recognise individuals or organisations making an outstanding community contribution, and following an extensive selection process over the last year led by the High Sheriff of Hampshire, Mr Rupert Younger, and supported by a panel of regional awards chairs.
Rupert Younger, High Sheriff of Hampshire, commented:“I am very grateful to Dr Charles Sandy, panel chair of the Hampshire High Sheriff Community Award for the North West of Hampshire for all his hard work in researching and nominating these award winners.  I have had the opportunity to visit each of them together with Charles and am extremely impressed with the expertise, commitment and positive impact that each of them has in their respective local communities.  I look forward to congratulating them formally at the High Sheriff of Hampshire Awards Celebration this Saturday where they will have the chance to meet and share their experiences with other winners from around Hampshire. ”
Dr Charles Sandy, Hampshire High Sheriff Community Award Panel Chair for the North West of Hampshire commented:
“It has been a privilege to take part in the High Sheriff’s Awards scheme. It has been a very positive experience discovering how much good work goes on voluntarily in the community. Although there are many unsung heroes doing good work in North West Hampshire, hopefully these awards will go some way towards recognising them. The Andover Food bank does wonderful work as do the volunteers at Enham and it is great that they are receiving these awards.  ”
